The Sibelius-Academy hosted a Creative Dialogue workshop at Järvenpää’s Kallio-Kuninkala in early February, encouraging young musicians and composers to engage in creative dialogue. Held for the first time in Finland, the workshop was attended by 13 invited students from prestigious European and North-American conservatories. The students worked under composer Kaija Saariaho, cellist Anssi Karttunen and Sibelius Academy piano professor Tuija Hakkila. The week culminated in the concert held as part of the Musica nova festival, presenting the music created at the workshop. Supported by the Paloheimo Foundation,Creative Dialogues has been organised since 2008 in Santa Fe, United States.
